28 Singing members of the Choir plus family and supporters travelled to London on the morning of Friday 24th April for the Welsh Association Massed Choir concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday 25th April . After arrival at the hotel, some members visited tourist attractions, others went to see a show, and some just relaxed
Saturday was a full day. The Choristers left the hotel at 9:30am, and we made our way to the Royal Albert Hall by coach for the rehearsal which commenced as soon as everyone had arrived at 10:30 - this was taken by the Event MD, Dr Alwyn Humphreys MBE. The rehearsal lasted 2½ hours finishing at 1:00pm. We then returned to the hotel to prepare for the concert later in the day.

We departed the hotel at 5:30pm for the Royal Albert Hall, and took our seats at around 6:30pm. The concert commenced at 7:00pm with the singing of the National Anthem (God save the Queen).

Choir Members before the Concert
The massed choir sang 3 slots in the first half of the concert and were joined by 2 solo performers (both of whom had won music competitions in Wales) One was an 11 year old singer (Lucy Kelly), and the other was an 18 year old Cellist (Steffan Morris)and both are extremely talented. After the interval, the Organising Committee and the MDs and Accompanists of the participating Choirs were introduced, and then the second half of the concert began with a communal Hymn (Cwm Rhondda). The second verse was sung in Welsh. The massed choir then sang another 3 slots and were joined by 1 more solo performer (Eirlys Myfanwy Davies), and a School Choir (Ysgol Gerdd Ceredigion) - again both showcasing the talent of young people in Wales. The school choir were given a standing ovation which was richly deserved. The concert finished with the Welsh National Anthem (Mae hen wlad fy nhadau) at 10:15pm.

The Massed Choir and other performers on stage at the end of the concert
On Sunday, after Breakfast we set off for Sheffield at 10:15, arriving back at around 2:00pm. A thoroughly enjoyable weekend made the last 18 months rehearsing the pieces (8 of which were in Welsh) all worthwhile.
